Legend of zelda ocarina of time dodongo's cavern help?

ok so im playing on the computer with an emulator and im afraid the rom might be glitching on me because when i enter the cave instead of a bomb flower in the center its just a bomb... and when i try to blow the stairs down in the next room there is no bomb to place in the center of the two bombs... i bearly improvised to get up but then once u go up all the stairs first off there is no gold skilltulla and no matter what i do i cant open the metal bars to get through the gate... is my game glitching or is there something i need to do?????? please help
